Opening
weekend:
My daughter Britny had a very interesting first weekend at
the Great Lakes Medieval Faire.
Actually, this all happened on Saturday the 5th.
Her day started off with participating in combat chess. She was
rather reluctant to take the board, but after some coaxing from
the cast (as well as one of the knights actually getting down on
one knee and pleading for her assistance) she agreed. Smart girl.
Got herself escorted by a knight, and she got to be the King's
queen on the board. During the course of the game, she even was
escorted by the King to her position on the board.
Later, as we stopped to watch a street performance, she was
drafted into action yet again.
It seems the fish monger had gotten himself thrown in the stocks
for selling bad fish. He could only gain his freedom by
professing his love to a lovely maiden. Another of the knights
selected Britny to be the object of his affection.
The look on her face when he dropped to the ground and groveled
at her feet is just priceless. The second picture is of the fish
monger preparing to sing a song to serenade her.
Finally, when we caught the Simply Bizarre show, she was selected
to help on the stage. The show was hilarious, as can be seen by
her expression in the second picture. I would explain the show,
but I can't do it justice right now. You really need to see it to
believe it.
Hey, Britny is finally dressing the part!
These are from the Best Jest contest during the 4th weekend. (she
swept the contest BOTH days BTW, probably because she was the
only kids contestant)
