GLMF 2003

Last Day :(

I am going to do something different here. Instead of spreading all these pictures out on all the different pages for them, I am putting them all here. I will basically go through the last day of faire as it happened.

First we have Jason of Simply Bizarre. He was just standing there in that pose when we walked by. Of course, Stevens was trying to clean him and the cart he was standing on.

Then Eiko happened by, and had to get in on the action.

Next, we came across a very interesting street bit. I didn't get the whole story, but I think the gist of it is this.
Merlin got together with the nobles to hatch a plan to have the Queen thrown in jail. When it came time to execute the plan though, he turned the tables on them and had the King throw the noble in jail for their actions against the Queen!

With the help of most of the peasants, the King had all the nobles invovled arrested and taken to the jail.

After some consideration, the Queen was also thrown in jail. For what the nobles accused her of doing.

As you can see by the way she is choking Sir Bedevere, she was not pleased at this turn of events.

With the nobles and knights in jail, the King needed some new knights.
So, he did a mass knighting of the peasants that helped with the arrest.

Here is where things get really funny. One of the conditions of their release, the prisoners had to do a conga line through the shire. Really was funny to see.

While still in the vicinity of the jail, Britny and I had Lady Tarah Rider thrown in the stocks for laughing at the King. (she wasn't really, we just made it up for something to do :-)

After that, we walked around and discussed what would happen next. We figured the knights would want to get some revenge on Merlin. Especially Sir Gawain, who seemed to be taking the whole thing rather personally. Where would be the best place? We figured, maybe something at the chess match. Both Merlin and the knights would be their.

I even participated again, and Britny got some nice pictures of some of the action.
It was a good performance, but nothing out of the ordinary.
We learned after the show, that the plan was for the second chess match.

We even got a little bonus in the parade the last day. The jousing horses were used to transport the Royal Family. I belive that was the first time all season for that.

For the entire run of the faire, I was trying to get the timing down with my new digital camera. I just couldn't quite get it well enough to capture one of Johnny's fireballs. Finally on the last weekend, I got it right. On Saturday, I got one that is on Johnny's page, only problem was, you couldn't quite see Johnny in it. Well, on the last day I got one of the best pictures.

A perfect fireball photo!

After the parade, we headed over to the Fairy Stage for the knighting ceremony.

Penfold's little white rat McAbernathy was knighted again. The reason this time. Since Penfold was the person who stole the King's cup (actually, he borrowed it to scoop a rat out of the privvy, after which, the King did not want it back). It was decided that he needed to have a knight with him to help him stay out of trouble.

After all this, we headed back to the chessboard stage to catch the last chess match.
While, not knowing what to expect, I was still surprised at the course of events. I figured there would be an attempt at revenge on Merlin. I was totally wrong in my assumption.
Everything went along like normal until the part where Baron Iago switches to Cerdic's side.

Then, everyone on the board switched over to Cerdic's side. It was really quite surprising. The look on the King's face when he saw it was priceless!

That brings us to Pub Sing.
The saddest and happiest of times on a normal day. Even more so for the final day.

Again, we get the Washing Well Wenches joining the fun on stage with Scotland Rising.
Hilarity ensues!

Now I will take a break from my descriptions and just let you look over the pictures of everyone singing and dancing.

Now back to a few captions.
As is normal for Pub Sing, after the performances, the King takes the stage and pronounce sentence on the bad guys.
Well, today was a little unusual. Madreax was given to the rat catcher. Penfold promptly set him free. He said he couldn't stand to see him suffer any more.
Now for the real twist. Sir Bedevere, and Sir Gawain were given to the Poop Sculptor.
On top of that, Sir Gawain's lands were given to Brian of Scotland Rising!

As you can see here, he was really quite surprised at the turn of events.

Finally, the Mud Show guys came up on stage, and promplty mooned everyone.
I missed the picture, but might be getting a copy of one.
I guess they did the same thing at Kings Court in the morning.

You might have noticed, up to this point, I haven't mentioned the Sword School.
They were unusually quiet this day. Everyone kept waiting for whatever they were planning to happen.
Turns out that was the plan. They figured everyone would think they would have this big thing planned. By not doing anything, they kept everyone on guard and in anticipation all day long!
They did have one little bit of fun on the way out to the gate at the end though.
Seems Stevens was frozen in place by a sorcerer. Turk and Wolfe took it upon themselves to decorate him.

Sir Gawain's bad day wasn't over yet.
As he came through the gate, Merlin decided to marry him to the fairy.

And so ends another season at GLMF.
Notice, I actually have some garb now.
Next year should be even better.
