IRON MAIDEN '83

8/13/1983 - Erie Civic Center

This was my first concert. I was 16 at the time. I went with my sister, her friend and my mother's boyfriend Dan. We had floor seats. Can't remember exactly which row (can't find my old ticket stubs), but I think it was somewhere around 15.

My sister and her friend spent the night running around while Dan and I had fun taking in the show. The opening acts were OK. We stayed at our seats (can't say in our seats, because we were standing the whole time) during the opeining acts.
Once Maiden took the stage everyone started crowding up around the stage. This was only the second concert at this venue. The first was the Beach Boys, so the securety guys weren't really sure how to handle the situation. It was real handy having Dan around. He was 26 about 6' 5" and 225 lbs. Nice having a big friend there to help get me closer to the stage. I think we worked our way up to around the 8th or 10th rows. The veiw was great.

The show was awsome. The music was great. I loved the way Bruce Dickinson worked the crowd. This tour was for the Peice of Mind album, so a lot of the songs were from that. The whole crowd flipped when Eddie the bands mascott came out. (for those not familiar with Iron Maiden, Eddie is a 12' tall half rotted corpse) Things got even wilder when Bruce got up on one of the platforms, grabbed Eddie in a headlock, pried his head open, and ripped his brain out.

It was great. I was blown away after the show. I was also hoarse the next day from yelling so much.
