1/06/1985 - Richfield Coliseum Cleveland Oh
This was my second concert. I was 17 at the time. I went with my best friend Dale, and his brother. First time I had ever traveled so far, let alone without an adult. We had kind of crappy seats. Can't remember exactly where (can't find my old ticket stubs), but I know we were up a ways. And clost to the left side of the stage. We could see the stage hands doing some stuff behind the stage. I circled the general vicinity on the seating chart.
Might have been a little farther over to the right. Can't remember for sure. As all 3 times that I saw Maiden in this venue I was on the same side, and general areas. So it all kind of blends together.
The show was great!
Twisted Sister opened.
They were really hitting the top of their game at this time. Lots
of radio and video play.
A very good, solid album to work from.
And a great stage show for an opener.
I'll never forget Dee climbing that hot-pink fence they used on
stage.

Stay Hungry
Under the Blade
The Beast
You Can't Stop Rock & Roll
Burn In Hell
We're Not Gonna Take It
I Wanna Rock
Then, we have the main reason to
be there.
Iron Maiden.
Also really hitting a peak.
I remember we kept ourselves occupied between groups by going
through the program that Dale bought. Reading about the last show
on the POM tour in Dortmund. Where they killed Eddie off. Even
had a picture of it.
They were almost 5 months into their Powerslave tour. Which ended
up lasting almost a whole year.
It was almost the perfect time to see them.
They had done plenty of shows already, so the performance was
tight. Everything was right on the money. But they weren't so far
into the tour that they had started to get bored or burnt out. So
they had plenty of energy and really fed off the crowd.
The setlist was pretty killer too.

There isn't a lot that I remember
from the actual show.
Other than the rush when the band charged out on stage after the
intro.
And I remember Bruce actually
played guitar at one point. That really blew me away for some
reason.
And as far as I know, that was the only tour he did that on.
Of course, there was the big Eddie mummy walking around the
stage.
And the huge one behind the stage towards the
end of the show.
There is some other stuff, but I think most of that is from the
LAD video. Which I have seen so many times, it sort of blends
with my own personal memories.
Stuff like hte fog/smoke during Rhime. And anything where you
could actually see faces.
Remember, this was 1985. They didn't have jumbotrons and huge
scoreboards or video screens in most arenas. So what you could
see from your seat, was all you got to see.
I remember Dale's brother tried to take some pictures with his
mom's brand new disc camera.
Of course they didn't turn out at all.
I know we waited forever to get
out of there. The traffic was horrible.
And the ride home seemed to take forever! Even with all of us
talking about how great the show was.
