Oliver![]() auction picture Nice kit. Comes with a piece of wire and sheet plastic discs to make the glasses. Cleanup wasn't bad. There was a small amount of flash to clean up around the figure. Worst part was between the shoes, which wasn't bad at all with a sharp blade. A little sanding and filling on the seam on the computer. The worst part was the putty, because it was just scratches I was filling in (went a little too heavy on cleaning up the flash). Too deep for primer to fill them in, and almost too shallow for the putty to grab. 3/29/03 - Actually have quite a bit done. Just need to do the glasses and paint the shoelaces (might built them up with a little magic sculp first though). Been really bogged down with the base though. Also kind of got moved to the back burner with everything going on right now. |
Boy this one took a
lot longer than expected. |
| The big hold-up was getting around to finishing the
base. Don't know why it took so long, it just did. [shrug] |
| The base is a piece of 1 X 3 wood, the 2 edges on the
top are rounded off, then the piece was cut to length. Then I coated it with a few very un-even layers of elmers glue to give it texture. Next it was spray painted dark green. For the dandelions, I cut pieces of paper into irregular disks, painted them. Then tacked them down with some small nails that I left sticking up. Then I painted the whole thing with a green that matched the backdrop. Then I added some cotton to the tops of the nails for the heads of the dandelions. The backdrop is just an image I scanned, and sized to fit the project. This was glued to cardboard (a cereal box served as the source). |
| I used another graphic from one of the books for the
computer. Scaled it to fit, and affixed it with some spray adhesive. I put several coats of clear over it, but obviously it didn't help :-( From kicking around for about a year and a half, it is showing some wear. |
| Another problem I ran into due to the length of time
to finish this project. I lost the wire and discs for the glasses. :-( I made due with a piece of wire from a twist tie, and cut the discs from some heavy paper. |
