This is Britny's 3rd model. She was stuck in the house with nothing to do. We were still waiting for something to dry on her mammoth, so I asked if she wanted to try one of the models sitting in the closet upstairs. She didn't theink there would be anything she would like, but I talked her into taking a look. After digging through for a while, her eyes lit up when she found this one.

After she pulled everything out of the box and started seeing how things went together she noticed a problem. She came over to me and said she didn't think she could do the model. It wouldn't stand up on its own. I looked it over and told her not to worry, I explained that if I mounted it to a piece of wood, it wouldn't be a problem.

After about a half an hour or so she was done building it, and was ready to paint. I wasn't sure about doing it all black, but that's the color she wanted. Said it reminded her of a big bat. So we got set up in the basement and spray painted it with flat black. She did most of the painting. I showed her a little trick with the base. She thought it looked a little too plain, but didn't really want to paint it either. I stood the base up against the wall and just dusted it lightly with the spray paint. She loved the way it highlighted some of the detail

IWhile I picked out a piece of wood from my scrap stock, she cut out the display picture from the bottom of the box. She held everything in place while I drilled the holes and put the screws in. The sea monster she left the color it was molded in. For now it is just sitting in place. Eventually, I am going to mount a pin in the bottom of it to hold it to the base. Probably when I get around to building mine so I can do them both at the same time.

The next day after the paint was dry, she detailed the mouths and eyes. Then I showed her how to scrape the paint off the pins that hold the dino to the base. After that, I let her glue it to the base. It does really need glued on. The pteranodon is heavy enough that it wouldn't take much to knock it off its pearch..
