| This is Britny's 4th model. I had picked
this kit up years ago with the Triceratops at Kmart. If I
would have known how bad it was, I would have left it on
the shelf. This is an old kit that AMT owns now. I'm not
sure what the exact history is, it was probably an old
Pyro kit. It was probably pretty bad even for it's
original release. She wanted to build it, so I let her. She wanted to do this one completely on her own, with no help from me. She knew what she was doing with paint and glue now, so I figured no problem. She did do really good all by herself. Unfortunately, she ended up needing some of my help. I don't know if you can tell from the pics, but the legs do not fit on this model. You can see where the rear legs have a big gap where they attach to the body. If you shift the legs forward a little to line up better on the body, then the top backside sticks up over a quarter inch above the back. It was really nasty trying to find some happy medium. This ugly situation is where Brit needed help. After I helped her line the legs up as best we could, then she took over again. I think the legs really dampened her enthusiasm for this kit. She didn't get into painting it as much as she has her other models. She just finished it off and stuck it on the shelf. It's actually tucked in behind a couple other models on the shelf. I would not recomend this model to anyone. There are better versions out there. The one by Lindburg (which is the old Lifelike kit) has a much better fit, and looks a lot better. |
