  Finally finished this one.
And in time for WF'07 no less.

I was totally surprised at the amount of detail on this kit.
I mean, I wanted it because it was eddie and it was a great likeness.
But once I started painting it, I realized how much detail was built into it and how good the castings actually were.
Iron Maiden Eddie model kit If you look at the larger pictures, you can see that there is actually a tongue inside his mouth. Not just an outline of a tongue, but an actual 3D tongue that is almost sticking out.
The eyes are raised, which makes them so much easier to paint.
And of course the hair.
Must have been a nightmare to cast.

The sculptor really did a good job.

These 2 pics are of the piece primed grey, then misted with white spray paint.
Then I went in with a little watercolor for some pre-shading.

Then I used my brown antiquing gel for the skin color. It's fairly transparent so it worked well with the pre-shading.
Notice how the vein in his forhead is still visible.
The hair was brought out using some black watercolors.

The teeth were highlighted with a bit of brown watercolor which was wiped off the high spots to give them a little deapth and form.

The shirt was done with more water colors. This time yellow for a bit of color and life for the kit.
With a little black and brown used to bring out the details in the collar, and other areas.

Clean-up wasn't too bad, though there were a few real small seams in the hair that were a bit of a pain to get to.
