I got interested in this kit a few years
ago. I had picked one up for my daughter, who wanted to try it. I was impressed with the amount of detail. Since they were going cheap on ebay, I figured why not. So far, the fit seems to be pretty good. Not a lot of clean-up yet. Well, finally some progress. |
Some shots of what I am dealing with on this kit right now. Lots of fine detail right along the seam lines. I've done all I can with the dremel, now it's time to work things with the files. The dremel is good for random detail and taking a lot of stuff of, but you just don't have the control for fine work as is needed here. Very challenging stuff, but should be worth the effort when done.. |
Wow! Talk about challenging. Look at what I had to go through just to clamp things together while gluing the body. The locator pins on this kit are about worthless. Did as much clean-up as I could to the neck / shoulder area before assembly. Because with the head in place it will be fun getting any tools in there. |
Well, even with all that clamp work, I still have some considerable mis-match to deal with. Time to break out the dremel and do a little resculpting. On the bright side, the legs look pretty good and will only need a little clean up. |
Almost done with the seams now. I have just a little bit more to go, and I will be ready to paint. |
Well, as you can see from the pics, I have a little more seam work than I thought I did. On the brighter side thoug. Looks like the tough stuff is done. |
Looks like I am finally done with the seams. Now to attach the tail, and the pieces for the back. |
Well, looks like I was wrong about the seams. After attaching the last few parts, I see I still have some work to do. |
Well, seem work is almost done now. Just a little sanding to smooth things out, and I should be ready to paint.
