History of the Clubhouse
modeling forum.
The Clubhouse
Well, if you have read the previous page, then you know a
brief history of the Clubhouse.
This page is for those who want ot know more, or just stroll down
memory lane.
______ Polar Lights BB ______
Hobby Talk is still alive and thriving, though the old Polar Lights BB was closed and merged into the general modeling forum.
Our first stop down memory lane.
The old Hobby Talk boards, circa 2000.
For most. This is what comes to mind when talking about the
good-old-days on the PL BB.
And here is what it looked like after the firing of Lisa on April 27, 2001.
Notice how the Playing Mantis presence has really dwindled. No
more Captain Action or Johnny Lightning boards.
_______ Clubhouse - the
EZBoard years_______
May 2001 - Dec 2003
I couldn't find an archive of the very begining of the Clubhouse. I am still trying to piece together just what was there to kick things off.
I do have this look from October 2001 though.
A few of those boards were not originally there at the grand
opening. But it gives you a good feel of the place.
Here is the first change that I can show you.
11/15/2001 saw the addition of the Scenic
Route. As documented in this thread welcoming Jim Bertges and Hilber
Graf to the moderating staff.
The next progression in the evolution of the Clubhouse can be
seen here.
Sometime before April 2002 The Heroes Emporium, the Marvel Model
Club, and TonyMoe's Bat Forum all got merged together into the
Heroes Emporium.
11/24/2002 saw another minor change. The addition of the Welcome Wagon
Then there was the major change that took place sometime between
12/01/2002 and 1/24/2003.
This was all brought about by the first, and worst recasting
thread. It got very ugly, and very heated. And if I remember
correctly carried on for more than 20-some pages. It resulted in
the board being shut down for a few days. Some staff changes.
Some rule changes. And a lot of board re-shuffling.
It also taught everyone what a hot topic recasting was. And to
this day, it has set the stage for how we handle the subject on
the board. At the slightest sign of getting out of hand it gets
locked down to avoid a repeat of this disaster.
The final change at the EZBoard location was the move to our new location.
_______ Clubhouse -
after EZBoard _______
Dec 2003 - present
On 12-19-2003 we moved to our current home.
Since then, the Clubhouse has had many face-lifts over the years.
Many changes to boards, layouts, etc.
So many, that it is impossible to document them all.
So, here are just some random samples.
And here is what the actual boards looked like before the software upgrade of 2009.
