Defenders in Action
the Scarlet Witch

This is my contest entry for the Hero's Emporium online model contest.

The Beast, Doctor Strange, and the Scarlet Witch in a basic diorama.

The Scarlet Witch started out as an Aurora Cromagnon Woman. I started by cutting the skirt off the original figure with a pair of heavy duty scissors. Then I assembled the kit. Cleaned up the seams and used some Magic Sculp to help the transition at the waist. Since it was originally supposed to be hidden by the skirt, it wasn't a great fit.
Next I added the boots and gloves with Magic Sculp. Pretty easy. Just filled in the toes on the feet, and added a little collar around the ankle. Same with the gloves, just added a little collar around the wrists. Also had to reconstruct the one hand. When I started, I didn't notice that the right hand was missing 3 fingers. Also used the dremel to grind away the shoulder strap from the original kit
Made the cape out of a paper towel (see the Dr. Strange page for more details.)
Primered white. Painted the flesh. Did the hair black. Mixed up the closest I could come to the scarlet and painted the outfit. After that was dried and sealed, then I went over the hair with a very dark red, almost a black red. Did the eyebrows. Painted the eyes and mouth. Mixed up a very thin pink, and went over the arms and legs. The flesh still shows through a little to get the leotard effect of the costume.
Attached the cape and mask.
I ended up making the mask out of heavy stock paper. Originally started with Magic Sculp, but couldn't get it to hold together. I needed it to be thin, then trying to cut out the very thin parts around her face was impossible. The material kept tearing appart. So I just cut it out of paper and painted it.
