SATURDAY
Got up early-ish so I could get my contest entries down
to the room. I ate, then managed to get 8 of the entries in one box.
Just couldn't find the space for The Hound and Arya. Figured I would
grab that for a second trip. Then, I got downstairs.
OMG! The line for the contest room stretched almost to the dealers
room! I ended up standing in line for over an hour and a half. I left
my room at around 8:30 and didn't get back with my empty box until
after 10. I dropped off the box and my forms, grabbed my camera and a
quick drink and headed down for the dealers room. By now, the line for
the dealers room is gone, as everyone is in the room. It's around
10:30, the room is packed, and I need to be upstairs at 11 for Greg's
presentation. I make a real quick partial pass through the room. I stop
at Model Club TV as Jason printed a kit for me, and I didn't want to
leave him hanging. And I hit Bombshell Miniatures for the Heavy Metal
crew kit. He had posted about it on FB and said he would only have a
limited supply of them, and I wanted to make sure I got one. Then it
was time to get my butt upstairs.
As always Greg Nicotero was a blast.
He wasn't promoting anything this year, but just reflecting back on
some of the stuff he has done over the years. This came about because he
had been updating his promotional book and started seeing stuff he had
forgotten he had even been a part of.
It was lots of fun, with lots of slides to look at, as well as cool stories to go along with them.
Always an hour well spent, and goes by way too fast.

It's now after 12, too late to bring my last contest entry down. Oh
well, that was the one that broke in transit, the repair I made wasn't
the greatest, and it didn't cost me anything.
I take my purchases to the room and grab a bite to eat.
Time to head down to the contest room and see how bad it is.
It was packed but I manged to look at (and photograph) a couple or rows
of tables. I head outside for a bit of a break, then go back to the
dealers room to really look things over now.
That is how I spent the rest of the show day. Alternating between the
dealers room and the contest room. Taking some pics, and doing some
shopping.
I didn't photograph as much as I usually do. I was just feeling super
low energy so didn't bother with a lot. I was having fun, enjoying my
day. I just think that long wait, holding that box of models took a lot
out of me. Drained a lot of the enthusiasm.
After the show shut down, I headed up to my room to relax a bit and
eat. I had quite a bit of pizza left from the night before so that was
enough for me.
I think my daughter did the same, I can't remember for sure. But I just
decompressed up there for an hour or so. I chatted with my wife a bit
on the tablet, while I ate and took some pics of my purchases, which I
then posted on the WF FB group.
Relaxed and rested, I then headed out to see what everyone was up to.
I spent some time at the Embassy for a while.
Then hit Naked Resin for a while.
After that I went up to the Nostalgic Resin suite. That was a great
time. Well, except for that malort that Jason brought. I shudder even
thinking about it. As bad as it was, it was funny watching other people
try it.
Had a great time up there. Can't remember how long I was there. |
We were out there for a while.
Because, it takes time to get a large group of half-drunk people
organize. And just when you do, another batch come running out the door
to join. Then there is all the after photo laughing, and chatting.
After that, I took a trip up to Cult's-suite. Hung out there and had a good time for a couple hours. Then back to the Embassy.
I am a little vague here, but I think I just made an appearance as it
was way too crowded and loud. I think there was a pass through the hall
and lobby, then back to my room to call it a night.
