SUNDAY
Considering the hour I went to bed, I woke up at a decent hour. Around 9. After a shower and food I was feeling great.
Time to go hit the contest room and see how I did. I was pleasantly
surprised to see that most of my stuff didn't get anything. Yes, you
read that right, I was happy to not get awards.
The last few years they were pretty free with the merits. So much so it
seemed like everything that didn't medal got a merit, which for me
makes those merits meaningless. I am not saying there is any right or
wrong way to do things, but for me, personally,
I like it better when you have to work hard to even get a merit. It makes them more meaningful.
That said, I was still scratching my head a bit at the results. One I
didn't care much about, and wasn't happy with the eyes on got a silver.
One I just hurried to finish just to add to my total earned a merit.
And one I was extremely proud of got nothing.
The only one that made sense to me was the Satan's Pit that got a
bronze. I thought that was fair. It's a good thing I don't put a lot of
stock in the contest results or I might be upset. Sure, it's nice when
your hard work gets recognized, but I don't honestly care if I get
anything or not.
The contest is a deadline I use to motivate myself to actually finish
kits. Then I can bring them to the show, put them on the table and show
them off. I am much more interested in the conversations with people
about the kits, how I did this, or how they did that.
The results in no way affect how I feel about the kit, or what I did
with it. The kit that didn't get anything, is still one of my
favorites, and the one that got silver is still gonna get sold off in a
few months.
Anyway, enough about the contest for now. By now, it was getting close
to 11 and I needed to get upstairs to see Jeannine's demo.
That was fun watching her show some stuff with the 'help' of Crazy Joe. :-)
After that I hit the dealers rooms to see if there were any different
pieces. Then, I planned on grabbing a sandwich in the hallway for a
quick lunch. But sadly, they didn't have ham croissants, only turkey.
[sad face]
Cannot remember exactly what I ended up eating out of my supplies I
brought, but I do know it wasn't as filling a good sandwich would have
been.
Then it was back to the contest room, while there was still time to
look things over and get more pics. That was when I learned what the
system this year was for getting awards and such. At 2 you could take
the one form, from under your kit and go to the awards room to collect
your award.
Since it was just about 2, that is what I did. I got the two forms I
needed and got in line with a bunch of other people. It was a decent
line, but it was moving quickly. They had, I think, 3 people working
the room. So, I got my awards and took them back to the room. Maybe
half an hour total for that. Not bad at all.
Then back to the dealers room. I headed to Steve's table to see what
was left of the Rick Evan's collection And I was right, my options
thinned out drastically. Which is what I had hoped for. I
couldn't afford to buy all the ones I wanted on Saturday. So I grabbed
his PL Trex painted like Devil Dinosaur. Took that back to the
room. Thought about picking up my contest entries after that, as
it was now ofter 3. Then I saw the line taking up most of the hallway,
so I opted to go back to the dealers rooms. That is when I stumbled on
another kit I wanted. Elric from Resin Dust. Don't know I how I missed
it the whole weekend up until that moment, but I got it. I also got the
last one, his display as a mater of fact. After more visiting, and
looking around, I took that back to the room and grabbed my box for
contest entries.
The line was almost non-existent at that time so I figured it would be
a good time. There were like 3 people ahead of me by the time I got
back down.
Got my kits and took them back to the room.
Back to the dealers room as there were a couple other kits I was eying
and I still had money in my pocket. Sadly by the time I got back down
there, those dealers had already packed up, even though there was still
almost an hour left of the show.
Oh well. Guess it wasn't meant to be. If I really wanted them, I would have bought them earlier.
Then, it was over. They were kicking us out of the dealers rooms. The show was closed.

Headed back to my room and
kicked off my shoes to relax a bit. Messaged my daughter to inquire
about dinner. We usually ran to Bob Evans on Sunday for an actual sit
down meal.
Seams she and Michael had already eaten. They were starving earlier and had a late lunch. [another sad face]
I know, I could have driven myself there, but that was too much effort
to eat alone. So I looked to see what my options were for something
close. Originally was thinking subway, until I realize there was a
Charlie's right down the road.
Went and got some great food and chowed down. Packed up my contest entries and my purchases and loaded those into the car.
Then headed down to hang at the doors by the dealers room to see a few
people before they left. A lot of people head home on Sunday and don't
stick around.
It had rained a few times earlier in the day, but thankfully for those
packing out after the show, the rain held off and they stayed fairly
dry for most of the load out.
I got rained on a bit taking my contest entries back to the room earlier.

Then I went and spent a few
hours at the Canadian Embassy. Can't remember the exact sequence of
events, but eventually ended up in the lobby with Scott, Chinxy,
Britny, Ross and a few others.
I think part of it was the Embassy got really loud and crowded. I don't
remember if I left on my own, and found Scott and Chinxy and then
Britny showed up with Ross. But that seems about right. Anyway, we were
there for a while.
Just shooting the breeze and having fun.
