Dark Shadows |

Just cracked the cellophane removed parts from the sprues. Did a little clean up, and got some of the sub-assemblies glued up. Hope to primer tomorrow |
Parts primed. Now to do the clean-up and putty work |
|
This old kit presents a few challenges as far as building. Some of the pins are way too big and have to be removed to even think about getting the parts together. |
Also it seems to be set up to be socketed to pose how you want. But it will make it impossible to paint sub-assemblies then put them together. So, I am probably going to have to remove some of the balls, and glue everything into place. |
|
Still cleaning up seams, but getting closer to painting. |
Almost ready. |
|
Just a little putty work to do on the werewolf |
Turned out pretty good. |
|
Working on the cloths. Started with splotches of different grays for variation/ Then I spnged the whole thing with one shade |
I think it looks pretty realistic. |
|
Working on the heads and hands |

Coming along |
Bases are about done, and bats are moving along. |
|
Stump is looking good. |
basecoating the pants |
|
a little shading |
some highlighting |
|
a bit more highlighting |
heads are getting closer. Blocking in the eyes and mouths |
|
finally some more assembly and some final touches on parts |
a bit more refining on the heads and bats |
|
heads and bats almost done |
werewolf's shirt is finally blocked in and feet attached. |
|
more bits attached | a better angle.
closer look at the bases | a look with the other heads
and, another setback. I had to thin things down a bit to get the arms on the werewolf. Apparently too thin, as the left arm broke off. So, I had to glue it on. Now I have to putty, sculpt, and paint that joint. This project just does not want to end. | Working on attaching them and all the other stuff to the bases
Since the resin heads make them pretty top heavy, I didn't want to rely solely on glue to hold them on the bases. I drilled up through the feet into the legs on both kits. That way this wire will give it really good stability from around the waist area. | I looped the wire under the base and epoxy glued it into place.
Now it's time to turn my attention to the base to hold both the kits. I've been toying with this idea in my head for a while. The hold-up was trying to locate a nameplate. That gave me a reason to have the big block to hold the extra heads. Next big hurdle is going to be trying to route out an area to hold the styrene bases and keep them from moving. |

ne Ok. Nameplate mounted to a piece of wood and joints smoothed, holes drilled. Primed and painted. Base has the outer rim painted with black ink. Then the nameplate mounted and the whole thing given several coats of polyeurethane. |
