Glyptodon
Out
of the box review!
Sculpted by Chris Lynch (ravenstar)
Molded and sold by Alchemy Works.17
cast resin parts/
Base, body, shell, head, 4 ears, 2 tails, 6
spikes, nameplate.
This review is only for 9 of the parts.
As I don't have the 2nd tail, the spikes for it,
or the nameplate.
|
Let's start with the small parts. The ears.
There are 2 different sizes, so you have your
choice of long ears or short ears. |
Now, on to the head.
I will be honest. At first, I wasn't really sold
on this kit.
I mean, it's kind of cool, and different, but it
looks like an odd armadillo, not a dino.
So, I only got this because I got a hell of a
deal.
After seeing the head though, I'm really glad I
have it.
Look at the detail, the expression, the character
contained in that head.
|
Now for the body.
Kind of boring compaired to the rest of the kit,
which is loaded with detail and textrure.
But note the detail on the bottoms of the feet.
This one of those little things that drives me
crazy.
Most dinos have zero detail on the bottoms of the
feet.
I usually end up puttying and sculpting it in
myself, because I think it needs to be there..
Note the ball and socket system for the head and
tail.
Really cool design. Allows both to still be
poseable.
|
Loads of beautifull texture and detial on the
shell.
And I will say, it is one big heavy chunk of
resin.
I can see why this costs so much. Lots of big
molds, lots of resin.
|
Some grass texture
and such on the base, but nothing spectacular.
I figured out 3 locations it will fit with thte
Tar Pit so far.
If you know of any others, drop me a line. |
