| Well, this is kit I know very little
about. Found it on ebay. By some company called Arteology
with a date of 1990 on the bottom. Not sure if it is
resin or not, almost sounds like it is ceramic or
plaster. Don't really care. All I know is it is of Eddie!
Here it is primered in brown. Then I added a little basecoat of green to the base, and ochre to the body. To help give the skin a sickly tone. Then I basecoated the tombstone with a
light grey. While I was at it, I did the hair as well. After I lightened up the hair, I noticed
all the pinholes. Man, that was a real bear going in an
filling all those while trying not to loose the details
of the hair. I used some testors tube putty. I like using
that for very thin applications like this. I would go in
and fill what holes I could see by using the putty on a
toothpick, then smoothing with my finger. Wait a little
then follow up by using the toothpick to clean any
details in the hair that got filled. These are the latest pics. I have gone
over the tombstone with a darker grey.I thinned it
heavily and kind of smudged it on here and there, to give
it a mottled effect. I also used a toothpick dipped in
the same dark grey to do the lettering. As you can see, the brown antiquing gel
really brings things together. Some might think all the
layers I have done underneath were a waste because they
have been covered up. Actually, it all adds deapth to the
piece. Gives it a more realistic look, because there are
lots of things going on all on different layers of the
finish. |
| I am not done yet. Next step was to give
it all a little greener shade. I was pretty happy with
how things were going, but thought it needed a little
greenish cast to it.
That looks a little more like what I had
in mind. Next up is a couple layers of paint on
the shakles and doing the pant (which you probably can't
see in the pic. Well, it is finally done. These were shot
just before I left for Wonderfest to enter it in the
contest. |
