![]() Took forever to prime due to all the deep details. 1954 on left and 1964 on right |
![]() A quick basecoat of white. ![]() Then some flesh. Next will be a little color. |
![]() ![]() A few shades of pinks, and some ivory for the teeth. |
![]() ![]() A little pastel shading at the base of the teeth ![]() ![]() Some white highlights on the tips of the teeth |
![]() The '54 has a much more open mouth. So I gave it a bit of a dark red splotching to give it a bit more variety. ![]() |
![]() Jaws are finally glued on, and I've started the putty work. First step was Aves to fill the gaps and smooth the transition. Which I also textured somewhat by pressing the end of a paintbrush into the putty to give it an uneven appearance. ![]() Next step was some Testor's tube putty. A lot of people diss this stuff. But like anything else, it works great for certain applications. Like here. Where I want uneven, rough, raised texture. Just dab a bunch on and tease it a bit with a toothpick. I'll have to mask off the mouths and shoot some primer to know if I need to do more or not. |
![]() Mouths are masked off, and ready for another coat of primer to check the putty work. |
![]() Close, but not quite. Needs another round of putty texture. |
![]() Finally, time to paint. |
![]() ![]() ![]() The '54 got a light coat of green, then a mist of gray. The '64 got a light coat of blue then a mist of gray. |
![]() '54 got a drybrush of battleship gray, and a spot wash of charcoal. '64 got a drybrush of hippo gray, and a wash of midnight blue. Think I am about ready to start on the eyes. Will paint the whites tomorrow, then wait and seal everything. |
new ![]() Eyes are painted now. Coming into the home stretch. |
