All this talk of blueberry vodka is making me homesick. I grew up
in Southwest Michigan, not too far from where Synn lives, and about
half of the U.S. blueberry crop is raised there.
BTW, I was
out Thursday night and had a blueberry flavored martini!

HEY! They stole my idea!
Actually, no that wasn't me. I was all decked out in my #8 Dale Jr,
Bud stuff, though. And I took some pictures at the
track so when I get them developed I'll post them so you can see my
Bud-liness.
And I got dirty looks from some of these other girls in #8 gear when
I was washing my hands in the bathroom. So I kinda flicked some
water on them and walked out. Good times, good times.

YEAH!
Xeno, as I said in RTAN I only got to see the first 26
laps of the race and then the rain delay set in (I was under the
roof so I wasn't really affected) and our plane left at 7 and the
rain delay ended around 4 so we had to leave before the race
re-started. I know my dad was really upset that I didn't get to see
more, but I was very happy with my 26 laps. So who won the race? I
have no idea!
And our seats were 62 rows
up from the start/finish line so that was pretty cool! My dad took
my around the trailers and then he took me down to the infield where
we tried to bribe this one guy into letting us in where Dale's motor
coach was parked. He didn't let us though, gosh darn him! He rented
me a scanner so I could listen to my baby on the radio! Oh it was
heavenly! My favorite quote was "It felt like I hit something...."
And I got to see my baby get lots of cheers during driver
interduction. So I'll get the pictures up soon!

I said it last week and it holds true again this week, if there
were 10 more laps to race you probably would have seen Jr in Victory
Lane or else top 3 for sure. Jr. has had a strong last couple of
weeks, a friend of mine said that he could be in the top 10 before
this year is over. That would be cool.
Rain delay sucked but

Xeno, Yeah, I like Jr. I work for a contractor of General Motors
and I work sometimes in their nascar marketing area for Team Monte
Carlo. I have see the cars in person a few times and they are always
handing out nascar stuff like driver mini-posters and profiles. The
drivers show up every so often too. In fact, I was in Texas and I
got an email from someone in our building saying "Harvick is out in
the parking lot signing autographs until noon." which dissapoints me
because due to my ties I'll always root for the GM Goodwrench
Service Plus car. It was a real shocker when Earnhardt died. There
is so much #3 stuff all over. Jr. used to race for ACDelco (another
Gm place I work) and there was Jr. stuff all over too.
So as
to who do I root for? In order...
Jr. Kevin
Harvick Ryan Newman (a great rookie) and Kenny Wallace
cracks me up in those Stacker 2 commercials.
A friend of mine
is a HUGE dodge fan and he's THRILLED by all the talent coming to
team dodge next year, Rusty Wallace and Jamie McMurray to back up
his fav Sterling Marlin.
The new monte carlo for next year
looks pretty cool.

The lineup for Phoenix:
1 12 Ryan Newman 2 43 John
Andretti
3 8 Dale Earnhardt Jr.
4 24 Jeff Gordon 5 77 Dave Blaney 6 23 Kenny Wallace -
Good show Kenny! 7 6 Mark Martin 8 25 Joe Nemechek 9 31
Robby Gordon 10 41 Jimmy Spencer - Ironic 11 19 Jeremy
Mayfield
14 9 Bill Elliott
The big news: Mark Martin was stripped
of 25 points for an "illegal" spring putting him 112 points behind
Stewart. I for one am getting sick of springs and height penalties
caused by compressed springs being levied if they are NASCAR
approved springs manufactured by approved vendors. How the hell are
they making them softer than they are manufactured? Putting them in
a blast furnace? It's making the points situation a farce. If the
spring and height passes pre-race inspection, then the race wear on
the springs is responsible and no penalties should be allowed. Or
find out what's wrong with some of the springs and get a new
manufacturer. This could well determine the championship. And that
is wrong.
Christian Fittipaldi gets his first WCup start in the Petty
#44 which I believe he will be driving next year.
Scott
Wimmer gets a start in the #27
Jason Leffler starts in the
#7
Derrike Cope gets in with a provisional in the BAM
#49.
Casey Atwood was supposedly driving the Evernham #91
that Hank Parker Jr. drove last week, but I don't see that it made a
qualifying attempt.

Turns out it was not a spring compression issue, but the fact that
the coil was about an inch short. I know they want to be consistant
about enforcing the rules no matter what the circumstances, which I
can respect. But, I think that the rules should reflect whether or
not an infraction is an oversight or an intentional attempt to gain
an unfair advantage. In this case, I think it would be obvious if
they prposefully cut the spring short as opposed to it being manufactured
too short. Plus, it was really gaining them no on track advantage.
In this case I think a fine and NOT a points deduction is in order.
Let them deduct points for REAL unfair play.

season. And his name is Matt, so this is good.
Dale Jr.

Jeremy,
25th. Bill, 30th. Quite frankly, I've about had it with the Evernham
teams. They look like they're going nowhere. I throw my hands up in
despair.
Only one race to go. If Tony Stewart finishes 22nd

Re: The NASCAR Lounge
Okay, assuming more than just Laura and myself are interested, I
will be setting up a Fantasy NASCAR game for this season here in the
Lounge. You don't even need to be all that involved after picking a
team of 4 or 5 drivers. There will be 3 or 4 trading times during
the season if you wish to cast off the slaggards on the team, but
otherwise it will be a low maintenance game for the
players.
Even if you don't know much about the drivers or
races, you can go onto nascar.com to see how well the drivers fared
last season. If there are very few players I am thinking of making
last year's top 10 drivers off limits, but if many want to play,
they may get to also. I sent messages to Terion and McLeod who
haven't been on BN in a while to see if I can interest
them.
If you're interested, let me know!
Oh, all beer is free during the races for team owners. AND,
I'm negotiating with Glittery for the placement of her new product,
Lolly Water, in the bar as well.

no bass player. Liam: So who's in it then? Noel: Well it's the
guy and his sister. Liam: Right, so who plays bass then? Noel:
Well no-one. She plays drums. Liam: A girl plays drums? But who
sings? Noel: Well the guy. And he plays guitar. Liam: What?
Alright, but does she play bass at the same time? Noel: No! THEY
HAVEN'T GOT A FUCKING BASS PLAYER! Liam: That's fucking stupid,
that is. Noel: But The Doors never had a bass player. Liam:
Who didn't? Fuck off! Who played bass then? Noel:
Nobody. Liam: I'm not fucking having that! |

Re: The NASCAR Lounge
If you can convince someone else to play, too, I will give you the
honorary "First Draft Choice for Gallentry in the Field of
Recruitment". Since we WILL be starting with the 11th place driver
at least, I can only wonder what you might do with this pick.

Re: NASCAR
Oh, I guess I should fill you in on our trip to Daytona Motor
Speedway. We did go on an absolutly beautiful day and took the tour.
You're so right, you don't appreciate the turns until you see them
upclose and actually try walking up them. Well, Daytona wont let you
walk the track but they do have a model in the Daytona USA museum
that you can walk up. It's quite incrediable.
If you get the
chance to check out the Daytona USA museum do it. Rich (Padorian)
and I got a chance to participate in the Ford 16 second pit crew
challenge and I got to carry the tire, Rich worked the wrench and
this one guy jacked up the car and kept dropping it. I know the
people at Daytona USA were happy that we all signed waivers saying
if we lose a limb they were free of liability.
Regardless we
didn't do bad but we didn't get 16 seconds either, I think we were
closer to 36 seconds. We would have done much better except they
used nuts that stuck to the rim and you couldn't tell if it the nut
was fully off until you pulled. When we got the tire off though it
was quickly back on and our jackman finally dropped the car again at
the right time and we raced to get back over the wall.
On top
of the fun interactive stuff, the stuff you could look at and touch
was just cool to me too. Like the CAT car that one last years
Daytona 500. It was also incrediable to stand in Victory Lane where
so many prolific drivers stood in their careers.
We currently
have plans to attend Daytona 2004 with my dad who is also a fan.
Should be fun.

Re: NASCAR
DC and Rich, it's awesome that you are interested in the game! I'm
confident now that we can at least have SOME kind of contest. I will
now establish some rules (more concretely than just having them
flowing through my head) and get something set up in another thread
(good idear!). I'm also going to contact my cousin who I go to races
with to see if she is interested in playing. She also watches BTVS,
so maybe it will get her on the Board!
I'm glad you had a
good time at Daytona! It really was an awesome place. I'm glad they
do let you into Victory Lane. Neat to realize who has splashed
champagne, beer or soda there. The museum is very cool. Saw one of
King Richard's old cars there. Interesting to see how much they've
changed. When I was there they had Dale Jarret's car on the podium.
It was the first time I'd seen one up close that had finished a
race. All the dirt and rubber and tire doughnuts still in place. It
struck me just how small and low to the ground these cars seem to be
riding in packs of 43 at 200 mph! I never got to do the pit-stop
thing, unfortunately, but otherwise had a great experience there.
