This
was a fun and challenging kit to do.
There was so much detail. That made me want to make sure
and do a great job on the build end.
Wanted to make sure I did the sculpt justice.
Then when it came to painting, the base was a time
consuming challenge. But it really was fun.
Trying to get all the little detail bits, and varying the
shades and colors so it wasn't too uniform.
I really wanted to do something different with the
dinosaur.
I didn't want just another kit with dark washes to bring
out the scales and detail.
At first I was going to go very light with it, and a
slightly pinkish color between the scales.
That didn't work so well, so I made the scales dark with
light between them. That really made it pop.
I took it to WF2012 and
entered it in the contest. Didn't win anything, but I did
get to show it off.
I had hoped to have it done a year earlier. But I am glad
I didn't try and force it last year.
I really like the way it turned out, and will display it
proudly.
