“This am correct”

TAY666: The phrase is in reference to a particularly strange poster who hadn't quite mastered the use of the English language.

I am not sure if this is related to the Tiny incident, or if it was one of his various screen names he tried to troll with.

Yamahog: The responses and follow-ups (to whoever was the originator of this malapropism) were classic. I'm thinking it was Tiny/Monsterluver (whose posts were always a great read).

As I recall, he'd rail on about Polar Lights' business practices:

"This is for why the ploar Ligts arent wnating to reissue for the kits! There not selling the modles becaue they wanted aurora to fale. You cant show wher their are any other companys who wold try this!!! If they wer wanted to help modelors , they wuld nevr have said so!!! And then goten the rites from Disny! Ha! This am correct!"

Arronax: I find it remarkably suspicious that Yama can reproduce those "This am correct" postings.

Cro-Magnon Man: That's just what I was thinking . . .

The Nipple thread

Zorro: I cannot recall what the original post was about, but it quickly morphed to a discussion about what would have happened if Joel Schumacher had designed the Aurora Superboy kit, Gladiator armor, the movie "Gods and Monsters", sexual orientation in general and nipples in particular, and so on. It went on for about 7 pages with one particular member feeling defensive, and everybody else - including Yamahog, Bwain, John P. and Markenstein delivering lightning fast zingers and one-liners that would have made Groucho Marx smile. It wasn't vicious or mean-spirited - it was just very, very funny.

Just Plain Al: The nipples thread started when we were talking about the costume in the movie, we wondered how come Alicia Silverstone's costume didn't have them molded on but the men did.

Dreamer: The nipples thread started when Yama pointed out that Lucille (not yet named such) was a perfect representation of a miniature golf attraction, and someone took offense that we "nimrods" would criticize a classic kit.  As to where it went, well . . . let's just note that Lisa had said "I'll be away for the weekend and the BB will be without a moderator, so you boys be good."

Question of the Day

Yamahog: Another thing we did here very early on (this would have been early 1999) was a "Question of the Day" (which was posted only once a week). Anyhoos, questions like this were posed:

Which of the following was married to Hollywood
legend, actress Rita Hayworth?

a. Ali Khan
b. Muhammed Ali
c. Kukla, Fran and Ollie

The "Question of the Day" was a short-lived feature here. (Perhaps, not short-lived enough.)

Cabin Fever Contests

Roy Kirchoff: I was checking out the Polarpaedia enjoying a few laughs when I noticed that the "Cabin Fever eContest" style traditions aren't mentioned. I always looked forward to these "annual" events; it at least was a good reason to put a PL model together. If I remember correctly Lisa came up with the idea originally as a way to get the group to show off our skills. There were several more over the years, Big G, maybe superhero's? Anyway, I've attached my honorable mention certificate and  you can use if you think this idea is worth adding to the site.

The Flute-o-Phone

I’m not really sure why this keeps coming up . . .

Just Plan Al: I wish I had saved the original text of the Flute-o-phone story, I remember reading that in the middle of the night after working 2nd shift. I laughed so hard I woke up my wife in the other end of the house.

Da Queen: Am I never going to live down the Flute-o-Phone incident??? But for the sake of passing on our PLBB history and culture and because for some reason men love the story, I would be happy to recount it for Arronax if he thought it a worthy addition to Polarpaedia.

And the story will continue as soon as it recounted . . .Arronax

BTW, the photo is not the actual Flute-o-Phone but one very similar to one referred to in this "incident."
